Tanya/Tatiana/TK 22 years old from CT, in MA @ Wheaton College right now. I just wanna travel and get tatted/pierced and learn/write about body modification. I like fashion a lot too, particularly really colorful candy-coated japanese inspired stuff. Oh yea and I think psychedelics are really really really cool. Mmhmm.

2008/01/07 17:35 im currently chillaxin on the couch after a lovely day of work at the cafe, all showered and no longer sandwich-scented :o) this weekend i went to NY to visit some friends from school and party up, which was so so chill. we hit up a really cool waterfall thingy on saturday then decided to grab dinner at white castle after finding out it was relatively close. i had never been to one before so it was cool to check it out, but definitely not all that impressing. small, dirty, with definitely drugged-up employees, but thankfully the food was pretty damn delish. made for a good stomach-grounder before a night of kings :o)
now im lookin forward to an easy evening and hopefully snowboarding before the week's end. it must have been about 60 out today, so with any luck ill hit the slopes before it gets as bitterly cold as it was last week. have a good night all, hopefully ill have a more exciting update next time :o)

2007/12/31 14:53 Ok so I'm gonna try for a journal for the bajillionth time in my life - i just never seem to be able to/want to keep up with them! But let's see how this one goes...
It's NYE (or New Year's Eve for abbreviation-illiterate people) and as usual I have absolutely no freaking clue what I'll be doing tonight. I've never gotten drunk for NYE, and actually didn't even enjoy drinking until earlier this year (conveniently right after my 21st!) Whatever I do I know it'll be done tipsily, so I'm not too worried about definite plans.
I had a BANGING birthday celebration this weekend, consisting of dinner with the fam and a night on the town with some girlfriends. Free drinks, banging pizza, and I didn't have to drive!! A completely satisfying night.
Yesterday was a good follow-up - awoke at my best friend Cathy's and chillaxed over some coffee till she brought me home. Then went running and met back up with her and our friend Lauren for Brueggers Bagels and some zootage, followed by a trip to pick up my snowboard from a friends house and shopping at the mall. It was RIDICulously packed, even worse than the day after x-mas, but I didn't have any other plans so I didn't curr. Read some magazines in Borders (they have some amazing pop culture and fashion magazines that I've never heard of before!!), found some books I'm gonna snatch up for a fraction of their retail price on fetchbook.info (you're welcome), and exchanged some sub-par x-mas gifts. I couldn't help but feel guilty returning the sick pair of Vans my sister got me, but I have a jillion pairs already and these were kinda loud for my wardrobe.
Speaking of...it's weird to have just turned 22 when I still feel like I'm 17 on the inside (and the outside, in terms of my clothing style). I love loud colors and fun patterns...I sometimes wonder if/when my style is gonna evolve to match my age. Maybe it's really fine and I'm not looking at it in comparison to today's 17 year olds. I saw a few in Victoria's Secret actually, and they were wearing a whole lotta black and studded belts...at least I've retired that fashion staple. Now that I'm thinking about it maybe my style really is age appropriate...maybe the shift happens slowly but surely and 3 or 4 years from now the transformation will be complete and I won't have even noticed the change. Hmm...we shall see.
Sooo today I went to iHop with the father, which was so so banging. I haven't had iHop in awhile which is lame because it's probably my favorite restaurant. Welllll, next to Waffle House. But we don't have those in the North so iHop is the next best thing. Then we went and rented movies - I told him to get Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for him and my mom to watch tonight, and I got A Scanner Darkly. It's by that guy who directed Waking Life and Dazed & Confused. I think he's prolly a total druggie, or was at one time. Makes for a damn good director.
Well I'm off to run and shower, then get ready for whatever tonight holds. Hope all is well on your side of the screen, random creepy person who actually read through the events of my weekend :o)

HELP!!! please?
2007/09/07 15:05 Hiya guysa, hope everyone's day is going supercallafragilistic. Soooo I'm back at school now, trying to adjust to a new schedule and a helluva lot more responsibilities than I was tackling over the summer. In addition, I'm trying to apply for this Watson Fellowship thing that awards 48 students from across the country a $25,000 grant to TRAVEL THE WORLD for an entire year to do a research project. Upon reading the informational email I got about the fellowship, my heart started racing...this is pretty much my dream. I love traveling, but I have nowhere near the kind of money it takes to travel internationally on my own. And there's so much culturally and religiously based body modification I'm DYING to explore. Rituals intrigue me so much...America is so devoid of them. Other than, like, holidays and birthdays, we don't really have much that holds us together as one country. It's so sad...but I want to see how cultures that DO still use rituals, body modification-related ones in particular, interact with one another as a result of these rituals. Just being there during something like the Thaipusam festival...ugh...I can only dream what it would be like. Such culture shock!
So anyways, in order to apply for the fellowship I need some damn good information on what I would do if I won it. I need at least 5 countries picked out that I would travel to, and detailed descriptions of why I would go there and what I would do. SO I'M ASKING FOR YOUR HELP!! Is anyone familiar with body modification rituals in other cultures? Have contacts in another country who might be able to help me? I would appreciate any leads I can get - this is a very serious project for me but I simply can't plan it alone.
Thanks so much for reading this, whoever you are on the other side of the screen. And please help if you can!
xoxo - Tanya
2006/07/12 12:38 I belong to way too many websites...therefore this is the first time I've updated this thing in months! I just got my wrist re-pierced but with a surface bar rather than a curved barbell. It was done by Brian Decker, and it looks absolutely awwwwesome. Two friends of mine got their clavicles surface pierced as well, and theirs both look so fucking sexy. I can't even deal with it....Other than that, I got my corset re=pierced at the beginning of the summer by Rev. Chriss, and I've just started to remove them (they're getting really icky). For some reason it doesnt bother me to remove them, but I used to have such a huge problem with taking out piercings. Maybe it's because this is my second time around with the corset. Perhaps I'll try for a surface bar corset sometime :o) I'm off to play with my cute little puppy and read a little about Mr. Charles Manson. Have a good day all!
