They only hurt when I'm awake

46 year old hippie wannabe with waist length hair, waist length chops, a below-the-waist goatee, and heavily pierced ears. My current earring count is 27, most of which are eight and ten gauge. I used to have many more earrings, which I had to remove for a CAT scan. I eventually plan to pierce both ears all the way around, and may add a few facial piercings. **FORUM:RVHD7753W4ETB5K11** **FORUM:31DA0LGR2RJDIP2G3** 4,842 people have wondered how I eat

Constant Ringing in my Ears:)
2009/08/31 17:56 After several hours of jewelry removal and insertion, my ears are sporting 27 new CBRs. The new CBRs are much larger (in both gauge and diameter) than the jewelry I removed, and the change is going to take some getting used to. The weight increase is very noticeable, but I’m confident that my tough ears and thick earlobes can handle it with minimal stretching. Aside from the sheer bulk, I’m going to need to get used to the constant jingling of 27 CBRs whenever I … well, whenever I do pretty much anything involving being awake! I’m also changing how I sleep by using two pillows to allow space for the CBRs to hang free when sleeping on my side. Since I never remove my jewelry, I’m sure I’ll adjust in no time. Once my ears settle down and adjust, I’ll be going in for four additional cartilage piercings.

God Help My Poor Ears!!
2009/08/30 16:21 I've just completed more than six months of searching for and ordering high quality stainless steel CBR jewelry to be worn symmetrically in both ears from top to bottom. I now have a perfect progression of gauges and diameters for 20 piercings in each ear. Jewelry ranges in size from 6g, 1-1/4” to 14g, 5/16”. I've been stretching many of my ear piercings to accommodate the new jewelry, so I'm pretty much ready to go. I'll spend the rest of the evening removing my existing (generally lower quality) jewelry and replacing it with the CBRs in the photo below. Except for stretching and replacement with higher quality jewelry, my CBRs have never been removed. Despite the massive bulk of the new jewelry, it will be worn 24/7 for life.

Sloooooowly Healing
2009/03/17 20:38 Well, it's been almost four months since my last round of 14 gauge cartilage piercings. I lost one of them a while back due to hypertrophic scarring. The other three are sloooooowly healing. The piercing I had to remove has healed completely. Eventually, I'll get it repierced, along with several new piercings as the march up my ears continues. My next project is to change out the existing jewelry for high quality stainless steel CBRs while switching to 6, 8 and 10 gauge jewelry in most of my ear piercings. Some of the rings will be an inch and a half in diameter, so my ears should be quite a sight!

A Definite OUCH!!
2008/11/23 20:42 After giving my ears a good six months off, I decided to add some upper cartilage piercings before the holidays. Now I've had four, and even six, new percings in one sitting before. Despite this, I have never submitted to more than one cartilage piercing per ear at a time. My upper ear cartilage is very thick, which both gives my piercer a workout, and makes these piercings very painful to receive. Actually, since last Spring, I had forgotten just how painful cartilage piercings can be. I naively headed off to Divinity Tattoo in Scottsdale for the next installment on my ear project, thinking little about what was to come. My plan was to get a pair of 12g CBRs in the upper cartilage on each side to bring my total to 13 piercings in each ear. As the first piercing needle found my thick and sensitive cartilage, I immediately recalled why I usually get cartilage piercings one at a time! However, my desire to make some progress on my stalled ear project overrode the pain and I managed to stay in the chair for the intended four piercings. Oooops! - only now I don't have a "good" side to sleep on! Oh well, at least I'm gaining ground on Mountainmansamiam in our ear piercing contest - that is, unless he's sandbagging me.
