| 2006/08/22 20:01 I suppose I owe an update... but truth be told I've been doing nothing of note lately. I think the most interesting thing I've done lately is fix my computer by applying thermal spunk to the HSF. This means I can now transfer the important files from my laptop to my desktop, then reinstall it (the laptop). Other than that I've taken the bike parts that need respraying into paint, and I'm expecting them back somewhere around the end of the week.
Beyond that days have pretty much been collapsing into a single blur, but I think that's true of my entire peer group at the moment. Nothing is available to differentiate one day from the next. The weather is the same always with rain showers and the threat thereof. I commented to Pod, and he agreed, that I can't wait for the uni term starts over.
I've been giving some thought on the most cursory level to my future when I'm graduated. The basic plan previously was to graduate, move to America, marry Angela, find a job, find a job related to my qualifications, live happily ever after. But now it's all up in the air. Current thinking involves military service in the UK or US, or even both military forces. But as I say, it is cursory thinking. All I know for definite is that one day I want to be living permanently in the United States of America.
I'm not even sure what else to say. If you're curious about anything ask. My grandfather (who I mentioned had a stroke recently) seems to be doing OK. Not great, but Ok. My grandmother is willing to seek help in caring for him (which I found surprising).
Point of Trivia. I live in a rural area. When you see the pictures you'll realise just HOW rural. As I came home last night (around dusk) I saw one minor road accident, caused by the low sun and road construction works, and a fox in the field next to the house. Foxes are pests. Good looking, but absolute pests. Farmers legally shoot them. Hunting them with dogs was recently made illegal. Shame really. In my opinion.

| 2006/08/09 19:04 I had a huge entry typed up ready for publishing. But my internet connection went down and I doubt any of it is relevant anymore. My grandfather is currently in hospital after having a second stroke (his first was 2 or 3 years ago. He can't speak or write properly and I'm not entirely sure he's understanding things completely. I went to visit him today, and I think I might go again either friday or saturday.
PS. My bike's all fixed now, I just need it resprayed.

| 2006/07/26 22:28 Not last weekend, but the weekend before on the friday and saturday was Bloodstock Open Air. It was an awesome weekend, with much beer being drunk (I think I drank 30-35 cans in the two days) and some CDs being bought. I think I may have a new favourite band soon, Lordi. Anyway, on with the story. I rode there with my housemate Tom on our motorcycles, parked up at the campsite and enjoyed the show. On the saturday it was scorching hot, as the weather has been in England over the last few weeks, and as I'd forgotten to pack any shorts I was roasting alive slowly. So I did the only natural and normal thing a man would do. Took my shirt off. Worst mistake ever. I spent the entire day topless in the sun, and consequently ended up with the worst sunburn of my life, along with the associated blistering, peeling and redness. It's only just beginning to settle down now, more than a week after it occured. Some people say I had third degree burns, but as I don't know the definition of "third degree burn" I can't comment on that. Needless to say it was pretty sore. Hopefully I've now learnt the importance of being sensible in the sun, but knowing me as I do, I doubt it!
Since then I've basically been doing nothing, and filling in the spare time from that by looking after Casper and Crumble, Zoe's pair of horses. Other than that I've been trying to find parts to fix my bike up. So far I've spent about £120 on it, and all I need to get now is the front subframe... which is proving hard to come by at reasonable price, so if anyone out there has a front subframe for a 2002 CB500S (98 onwards will fit fine) let me know. I had a quote for the respray on the bike today, £175.
I need to find a job, more to fill time than because I need the money, although the cash would certainly be helpful, and at the time of writing this the plan is to go into town and sign up with some recruitment agencies. Or I might just wait around some more, and see if anything comes my way from Ellen. I promise this everytime, and at some point I will fulfill the promise. Pics soon. None of me though, they always come out crap. Anyone want to come take pictures of me?

| 2006/07/10 09:52 I've moved into the new house, but as yet the internet still isn't connected. I'll post a series of pictures when it is connected, and when I get my main desktop back online, as that has the software for the camera on. In the mean time I'm unpacking, and trying to get reorganised. The builders are in right now finishing off the extension.
Tom and Stan both had their girlfriends up for the weekend. I felt decidedly 5th wheel. I'm trying not to let things like that get to me, but I've nothing to fill my time with right now so it's all a bit miserable. |
