Working away the days...

2009/11/09 23:25 So it seems time for my once yearly or whatever update:

I'm still living in Washington, bored to tears because I'm working the night shift and there aren't any young people out where I live (that don't have kids). My job at the local hospital is interesting, but not immensely satisfying. So I'm moving back to Philadelphia in about a year. Course, they don't know that yet. But I'll tell them eventually.

Married life is happy. I love the relationship I'm in because of the absolute freedom we both have to love each other but also take on other lovers. So far, we have not been too successful in that arena but I'm sure a change of pace/location would help a bunch. Til then, I'll just have to think about our next threesome.

Indianola, my new home.

2008/08/02 20:59 So, life in my new town is pretty awesome. I've been here for two months, and everyone is pretty nice. It's small and our new house is certainly smaller than our old apartment. The deck makes up for that.

I flew back across the country to Maine to take my NCLEX cause there were no openings around here until the 7th of August. Midway through my test, the power went out. It took two hours for the power to come back on. Fortunately, I was able to finish my test. I didn't know until two days later, when I woke up and checked the website on my phone, that I passed the test. I called Aubrey first, but it was six thirty in the morning where he was. He still answered, but he sounded more groggy than relieved.

I start work on the 11th of August, and I am excited.

Update

2008/03/21 17:03 So, a quick update:

The newest microdermal did not survive, alas. I had to remove it last week. It wasn't too bad to take out, and I hope the scar heals fast. It was pretty, but I chose a bad place for it. Sleeping was difficult on my side, since my boobs compressed it badly. Plus it got knocked around too much. I guess it's good riddance.

Aubrey and I flew to Seattle (after getting married on the 29th of February) for our "honeymoon" which was more of a getting-to-know the Kitsap Peninsula and me interviewing (and buying a car). I canceled my appointment with the VA at the last minute, because I realized that I didn't want to put up with the horribleness that is their hiring process again. Plus, I would have to submit to a physical exam again, etc. My first interview was at Harrison Medical Center on the Peninsula. It went exceedingly well, and I was offered somewhere around three positions: the ICU, the PCU and a newly formed ICU/PCU combination job (offered within two hours of the end of the interview). I then went to Virginia Mason, who rejected me yesterday, and Harborview, who also rejected me. I feel really weird that these places didn't like me for whatever reason. I mean, for fuck's sake, I'm a goddamned Ivy League soon-to-be-grad and I thought my interviews went well. I don't know what they actually want, but whatever, I'm going to make a hell of a nurse, so fuck them. Harrison wants me badly, and they are a good hospital where I will actually get to work with trauma patients (unlike Virginia Mason) and I will stay supported on two closely connected floors (unlike Harborview). I guess I'm just surprised a bit.

Hopefully the nurse recruiter from Harrison will call me soon, and won't decide to reject me for some weird reason....*sigh*.

On the good side of things, I got a new car: a 2008 Subaru WRX hatchback. It's an automatic, red, and speedy. I like it a lot. I still have to name it. It might be Roxanne. Not sure yet. She's waiting for me out on the Peninsula, and I can't wait to go out there for good. It's a truly beautiful place. The view is fantastic, and the beach is only a two minute walk away. It's like Maine, only with really big mountains all around it.

I bought my cap and gown (and hood) for graduation in two months. I'm excited. Soon this school thing will all be over, for as long as I want it to be. I just hope I pass my NCLEX.

New Microdermal

2008/01/06 22:09 I just got a fourth microdermal. It was done by Owen (at the Chameleon in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA). It was his first microdermal procedure. It just so happens that when I visited him yesterday, he had recently gotten in a few pieces of jewelry, and was still looking for guinea pigs. I volunteered, since I have already had experience with healing micros. Owen is an amazing piercer (having been in the trade for somewhere around 12 years or more) whom I trust, so it seemed like a worthwhile thing to try out. The newest one is the smallest of the four in the picture, lowest in my cleavage. I went with a smaller disk to minimize discomfort from my boobs pressing together. I hope it heals well! I may have gotten the first microdermal performed in the greater Boston area. Yay!
