Well I am 22 year old bi male living in the NYC metro area in Stamford CT. I work for ActionLink and go to Lincoln tech in Whitestone, Queens, NYC, NY. I am somewhat “unusual” in that I am not a body mod artist, but am very visibly tattooed and work in an industry where I deal with the general public. I am into cars and motorcycles an anything that has a motor into it. So my 2 obsessions would be modding myself, and then modding my car.
Actionlink is a retail training, promoting, and merchandising company. They work on behalf of companies like panasonic, Olympus, D-link etc... training sales associates and speaking with customers at stores like Cirucit City, and Best Buy.
Lincoln Tech is an automotive school where I am learning to be an automotive Technician. As long as I have no more medical issues I should graduate in 6 months or so.
So today was my last day of school at Lincoln Tech in Whitestone, Queens, NY for the "Master Automotive Technician" program!
I am glad to FINALLY be done. Took WAY longer than it should of since i got sick. Glad it is done and i no longer have to deal with the 45 to 2.5 hour commute anymore!
So now i actually have time to work a full time job again, so the search is on for an automotive job. I really want to get a job this week so i can order snap on tools before i lose my student discount. Just really looking for anything to fill my time, and basically pay for tools...
Applying to the Audi manufacturer training program. They are in need of technicians in this area, and they accepted 3 people already from my class, so i shall see how that goes.
As for tools i was thinking of getting something like these snap on sets...
THIS Probably the complete metric set C or D depending on student cost.
I was thinking to only get metric tools from snap on (ones used often) and just getting craftsman tools for standard since i will almost never use them.
Those sets don't have 100% of what i need, but it is much easier than trying to go item by item to figure out everything i need at once and those sets are pretty close.
Oh and i already registered for 4 of my ASE tests to take next month. Decided not to try and take them all since this is the first time taking the tests, and i want to get a "feel" for how i take them before i register to take them all.
SO Saturday I was hanging out with sheena after work. I kind of wanted to go to six flags, and she wanted to go to a haunted house in Ulser park NY. Well we left late, and hit traffic before the GWB and had no idea how long it would take to cross across the Hudson, pluss my friends that were also going to six flags did not answer the phone! so we just kind of gave up on the six flags idea and decided to go to the haunted house. Sheena seamed to like it and it was pretty cool I guess.
Also I registered to start taking my ASE test next month. I decided to just take 4 that month instead of all 8, that way I can see how the tests are, and only spend my time studying for the 4 tests, figure it is less load that studying for 8. Also I need to learn how to take the tests so I get a “feel” for how they work.
2007/10/05 14:27 Ok so Monday is going to be my last day of school at Lincoln tech! Finally, it only took me an extra 4-5 months from getting sick and all that! IT really screwed up my finance plans by taking the extra few months. I was hoping to end school with no debt, but I wound up with a few $1000 on my credit card, and I need to buy tools too now! If I buy snap on tools my last week of school I get about a 60% discount of the regular price, but after 1 week I lose the discount! GRRR this sucks! I guess I would have to take a lone out for that too. Even with an insanely high interest rate, it is cheaper than waiting to buy the tools.
so today, before and after work i finally starter putting my bike back together. I still need to straighten out some parts, and i am trying to mix and match parts from the stuff i bought, and my current bike to get the best parts on there.
The pails i ordered off line are in a little rougher shape than i was hoping for, but they are far better than the parts i had that are basically destroyed. To really get the bike back in shape i would need to paint the plastics. I still need to change out the forks/triple tree, straighten out the headlight mount a little bit, mount the tires, and work on the brakes.
anyone with a bead breaker for motorcycles want to lend me it feel free!
As for my car, it is finally back together after i ripped it apart to wire in a 3rd fuse block, and rewire all my accessories, and add in my radar detector. the dam thing i bought over a year ago and just NOW got around to installing it. So far it seams to work pretty well, i am yet to encounter laser though (although i prefer not to)
I still have more stuff to do to my car, but that is almost a given with this car!
As for school Monday is the last day of this class, and Tuesday i start my LAST class in school. WOW i will finally be able to get back to working full time, and pay off some of my student debt! I hope to pay that off in a year, although if i buy a bunch of tools it may extend that a bit.
