One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

2010/02/06 00:06 hmm, i just noticed its 99 days until my birthday.. im not ready to be 27 yet, i dont even feel 26 yet. maybe if i accomplish more with my life, i'll start to feel my age.
a little update:
lost a 34 yr old cousin back home to a heart attack almost exactly a month after i lost charlie.. that sucks.. i only get to take 2 classes at a time for now, because i was denied my private loan, so i can only take what financial aid can cover, and my school is retarded expensive, so at my current state, itll take me an extra year to graduate. i need to improve my credit, or find a co-signer stat! i did a paid shoot a few weeks ago, and it went great, and i delivered final imaged today and got the last bit of money for the shoot, which is awesome. apparently, the client will be paying me for prints at some point soon.
i need to register myself as a business, so i can get tax exempt on my expenses, and so that i can even have business expenses..i also need to get a website going, so i am more legit
as of this weekend, i have one of my credit cards paid off.. its the musiciansfriend credit card.. i want to keep making purchases(wise ones, of course) so i can keep having steady monthly payments building my credit. anyway, im thinking about buying a PA system for commUNITY music.. because i plan on getting to where i/we are putting on events regularly, itd be nice to have our own PA.. and i can apparently even make some money renting it out when im not using it. i could also use event revenue to pay off the expense, i'd just have to make sure to be honest about it, and only take what i need, and put it only towards paying off the PA. i think im going to try and organize some events here in the dallas area this year and revive commUNITY music.. once again, i need to register it as a non-profit organization, and get the website back up and going.
maybe sometime soon i'll post a list like everyone does of the things i want to do this year.. and post-date it so it stays on top, and cross them off as i accomplish them, and see what all gets done before the year is up.
but why set myself up for disappointment?

2010/01/07 18:54 i forgot to mention, somehow...
i lost someone very close to me on december 22. Charlie Freeman, he was a photography instructor at the art institute of dallas. he was so much more than that though, he was a friend, and a mentor. i feel like those words still don't even do him justice. i learned more from charlie as a teacher than probably all other teachers i've ever had in my life. he went well out of his way to better each and every one of us, on a personal level. he genuinely cared about each and every one of us academically, professionally, and personally.. it was like we were all his children. and it wasn't just photography students, it was anyone he came into contact with. he absolutely ADORED allison, his face would light up every time he saw her. he had allison model for him about half a dozen times, and he did more for her modeling career than anyone or anything ever had before, all because he just wanted to. and it was still so much more than this.. he encouraged us all to meet outside of class, and even facilitated it by arranging monthly meetings at a restaurant. he helped us to build a photography community amongst our classmates that will remain even after we start graduating and moving on to the professional world.
almost everything i've learned about photography i've learned from him. also, i was kind of all over the place with my influences and my style and my inspirations, and then charlie shared with me one of his biggest inspirations, deborah turbeville, and i was instantly changed as well, and she has become one of my biggest influences, he and i shared that bond.
charlie had previously had double bypass, and was on heart medication of some sort. he passed away due to cardiac arrest, much much too soon.
charlie has been, and will continue to be one of the single biggest influences of my entire life. much of what i do in my photographic career from here on out will be in his honor, dedicated to him.
he was an amazing, amazing person, and i will forever miss him immensely.

| 2010/01/06 16:33 im never sure what i mean by that.. that i am home from iowa.. or that i was home again IN iowa.. oh well.
it was a nice trip.. cold as balls. one night it got to -18 degrees with a windchill of -33.
hung out with my sister a lot, which was really nice, she's great.
had some unnecessary drama, but i think its behind us.
this next quarter i only have 2 classes because i was denied my private loan, and financial aid only covers 2 classes, my school is expensive.
thats cool though, because starting this quarter im in the student ambassador program, and i'll be signing up to use the studio once a week, so i'll be using all my free time to do great things.
at some point i'll start making real-er updates again..
maybe.
this was a weirdly formatted entry...
