aimlessly. at times anyway.
or mostly, can't tell really,
i know its gotten a lot better than those days.
a little more substance to the story now.
2009/09/20 16:39 how long has it been since i wrote in this diary?
can't say for sure but it feels like ages.
well, i probably could have looked at the date of my last entry, that would not have been hard would it?
so i guess i can say for sure i just don't want to.
anyhoo, lets move on shall we.
march 2006 i returned from my last trip to finland, excited and energised by the plans made by Jussi, Visa and myself for our upcoming tour of the USA. unfortunately for me a spanner was to be thrown into the workings of my machine that has taken until now to be full removed. that, ladies and gentlemen is another story, to be told at a later date. suffice to say i did not join my comrades on their US tour and have not set foot outside of canada since, a situation that is to be remedied in a few days.
so once again ladies and gentlemen,i have been handed a chance to take the stage with my Finnish friends and will not allow any would be saboteur within fifty feet of the machine, no matter how nubile the form or sweet the taste may be.
HELSINKI OR BUST has been scrawled across a nearly new piece of cardboard and stuck between my grubby little fingers as i walk towards the intergalactic superhighway that is to be my route to Paradise and The Helsinki Sideshow Night.
thumbs out now, you'll never get a ride with hands in yer pockets.
2008/12/02 23:55 after the resurection on sunday i did a knee suspension. unfortunately the camera battery died and i have no pics after putting in the hooks. "a likely fuckin' story you pussy" is what you are probably thinking but its true, i will post shots from my friends camera soon.
2008/03/03 01:25 i have started writing a piece about uranium and all the great things it has done for the planet.
the energy wasted to mine it to refine it and finally to enrich it and produce the depleted uranium which is the driving force behind modern warfare.
for a time, such a glorius time, we bathed in the security afforded us by the might of our empire. the mere suggestion of military action was enough to deter the most committed enemy.
such a happy time it was when we realised our might, our unwavering domination of the planet. the united states of america exceeded all expectations, all but the most ambitious of predictions.
the USA grew at an exponential rate, vying for a position at the head of the table, side by side with the oldest nations of europe.
but what was the cost? what IS the cost?
unbeknownst to the common man we are progressing rapidly towards oblivion. we live in a state of blissful ignorance, blind to the reality that is all around us, just beyond the curtain, the smokescreen we hardly know is there, so apparent yet invisible.
we talk and talk, the anger growing inside like fire in the belly of a dragon. we sign petitions and march in the streets, write blogs by the thousands. every waking moment is spent saturating the web with our frustration and malcontent. we remember the 60's, vietnam, JFK and bobby kennedy, martin luther king and malcom X. John Lennon, bill hicks. did they die in vain? destined to be remembered by a generation of people who hear their words and songs as nothing more than entertaining retoric. is there nothing more we can do? nothing at all?
do we just sit here and take it? sit in silence as we watch the men we didn't vote for steer our world down a path we never wished to see.
do we sit in silence?
is there nothing we can do?
are we beaten?
i think not my friends. get up! speak your mind and stand for nothing but what you know is right. imagine the world you will leave behind. close your eyes and imagine it.......................
2008/02/08 13:07 i am back home on the island, finally.
after spending 9hrs on the bus i arrived back in vancouver at 830am. after a pleasent stroll up main, through china town, to hastings where i always stop to admire the old public library building and the regular group of crack/meth users/dealers not to mention hookers and pimps, some people fall into all of those catagories. there were even a few cops hanging around, trying to score or get there usual containment fee. suffice to say, feeding time at the zoo is far less entertaining. i like to walk this way ever time i visit the city because it is a shining example of political and social policy gone very wrong, these people are the forgotten children of a society that either doesn't know what to do or doesn't care. drug addiction seems to come into the public eye only when votes are needed or the problem begins to effect the ruling elite and/or celebrity entertainers. remember all those bio-attack apocalyptic stories of mutants and zombies taking over the world. well, i see it already happening on street corners of every north american city i visit. take a good look next time you walk over or around a meth addict, look at the sunken cheeks and empty eyes staring right through you, look hard and wonder like i do if this is the future george a romero imagined, or if it is on the horizon, just out of sight.
wow, that was quite a tangent......... anyhoo, i made it through the badlands and wandered up hastings to find a coffee shop. after my coffee and curry chick pea wrap i kept walking up hastings to robson where i turned left and made my way to the #17 bus.
i found my stop and waited just over 5 mins before continuing up oak towards marine drive. the bus ride was uneventful, i listened to The Haunted and found a couple of track i might use for the next show.
only a short walk from my stop was the hotel car park and my trust steed, my '88 corolla waiting patiently, almost lost amongst the SUV's and sports cars. getting the car was a whole lot easier than i expected, almost too easy, was i being watched, followed maybe. i decided on a complex return journey which would take me around most of vancouver, back up and into the airport then south west to stanley park before exiting and parking in an alley where i would continue on foot. i then decided that this is real life and i am not jason bourne so i got in and drove back the way i came, the easiest way through daytime traffic, back to hastings. i was headed to the Amsterdam Cafe and found parking just around the corner on homer. i love the feeling i get from the place, sitting in a cafe, sipping my coffee and smoking weed. this is a little taste of the freedom we should all enjoy, the freedom to do whatever we want at no cost to another. i smoked my joint, checked my email and watched many others do the same, no government agents kicked the door down, no one was dragged away in shackles, no arguing, no fighting, just conversation and laughter. i checked the ferry times and opted for horseshoe bay 3pm. i had a few hours to kill but decided to drive for the ferry now and get to the front of the line. nothing much happened in the lineup, i stood by my car and juggled balls for a while, passing the time, then got on the ferry and went sleep. finally i arrived back in town around 5pm and went home to relax and wash the journey out of my skin.
2008/02/06 14:15 i'm in rvelstoke BC right now. there are 6foot snow banks on each side of the road and its snowing. however there are huge mountains all around me and the people are really nice, so i can deal with the snow.
i have been doing lots of micro dermals whilst on the road, the sure are getting popular. normally i alway use punch and taper for such things but a couple of times i have been forced to use a needle to mount the implant and i have come up with a winning technique using a 12g needle. i will be using punch and taper when i can, it is much more precise i think but the needle method works ok.

loose change final cut
2008/01/10 16:51 i just watched it. anyone living in america should watch it and start thinking about how much more bullshit you will put up with from your own government. i grew up in ireland when terrorism was a cottage industry, lots of people got killed in the eighties over there and lots of bomb exploded but this was a time when tanks rolled down streets where children played, soldiers stood guard in front of grocery stores and suburban housing estates were walled in, controlled by check points. no effort was made to hide anything that was going on, it was obvious to us all. i don't think i could ever have dreamed that the government of any country where i have lived would kill its own loyal tax paying citizens, for any reason. here we are today with the weight of evidence bearing down on us. the truth is no longer around the corner or hiding in a red stamped folder in an office safe. it is painted on the walls and shouted from the hilltops. there are books and movies, documentaries and protest marches demanding answers, yet nothing happens. nothing fucking happens. what the fuck is going on down there. how did the american civil war start? are the people in question just too dependent on an infrastructure built on and fueled by these lies and the results of them that they cannot or will not do anything to stop it.?? i wonder.......
speak out, question everything all the time or before you know it you might be the person hanging out of a building deciding whether to jump or return to the dust from whence you came.
2008/01/09 15:05 all is well here on th'island
i have made a good start to the new year. feeling fit and ready to tackle some new projects. me and tamara have started at circus school. we are learning lots of acrobatic technique and juggling, balance, unicycling, staff, showmanship. its all good and will help make cirque de sattuu a force to be reckoned with. i have just hired myself a new apprentice, he seems like an energetic and keen young fella. to be honest i have been hoping to hire a guy because i find it much easier to deal with a guy than a girl, nothing sexist going on here it is just my personal choice. i have started a weekly movie night at a local art gallery, we are starting this saturday with Zeitgeist www.zeitgeistmovie.com and next saturday will be the premier release of Portrait of a Freakshow the circus mundus absurdus dvd. including a performance by me and tamara. lots of plans for the year and i have made a running start at all of them.
oh how the masses flock to the shops at this time of year.
oh how they run and fall over each other to spend money on worthless trinkets.
oh how they talk and chat, laugh and giggle
oh how they never think,
not for a minute, nor a second
about the point of it all
given that it is the festive season, i thought i would re-run a couple of my favourite diary entries. i think they keep within the "christmas" theme.
also within the retail theme is me re-hashing something old with some minor changes and a different box, for you the consumer to take home believeing it is something you don't already have
THE FUCKIN MALL drives me crazy at the best of times, but now at this time of year.............???? every fucking inbred brainless moron in the world seems to assemble in the place at the same time as me, and they walk around like they drive, stopping and starting, "do i go here? maybe there instead? how much is this? do you have it in my size? i need to use the bathroom mummy, can i go, PLEASE MUMMY I NEED TO PEE!!! WAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!" SOB fucking SOB, i think i can be excused a few homicidal thoughts. god damn people holding on like grim death to the idea, the dream, that buying that special someone that special something is just what the relationship needs. like hungry jackals they converge on every square foot of retail space in north america, jostle and shove their way to the front so they can purchase and consume the latest and greatest in temporary happiness. give your girlfriend whatever it takes to get her smiling so she'll look into your eyes like she used to, like she did in the beggining, move her hips in bed like she did when she loved you. buy some pointless trinket, admire it through its layers of packaging then wrap it some more, tie a bow around it, put it under the tree and admire what you have created. a soon to be forgotten object wrapped in next months landfill.
STOP CONSUMING SO FUCKING MUCH
that is probably the umbrella that the next couple of points come under.
STOP using so much of our non renewable resources most of our power comes at least in part from crude oil or coal. turn of the light when you leave the room, leave the heating off when you go to work, walk to the shop instead of driving your car or even use public transport. don't leave the lights on when you leave the house. there are far less people waiting to break in than you think, resist the fear mongering.
DON'T use five plastic bags at the supermarket when two or three will do. it all contributes to ladfill and waste and is another drain on resources. to put it simply, the big machines that turn the landfill run on diesel which is made from oil. smaller pile of garbage, less machines, less diesel, less oil etc. get the picture.
DON'T consume for consumptions sake. by that i mean don't go shopping unless you need to, don't buy shit you don't need, it all take power and resources to produce and if there wasn't such a demand for all this useless shit we would have a lot more land and oil and power to do worthwile things with. if you want to feel better when you wake up in the morning, don't go for ''retail therapy'' drink a few glasses of water and do some fucking excercise.
DON'T smoke cigaretttes......EVER. no matter how you spin it, you are funding the tobacco companies and all the wrong they do.
DON'T eat processed, fat filled, carbohydrate rich food every day
DON'T eat fast food like mcdonalds, burger king, pizza hut, kfc etc. EVER these companies are some of the biggest users of our time, energy and money and they give nothing back. NOTHING.
THINK about how you and the people around you live their lives. most of us live in countries that provide us with health care, paid for with our tax dollars/euro/pounds etc. a large part of the health care system is dragged down and used up by sufferers of self inflicted injuries. i mean smoking and diet/lifestyle related ailements. people who eat poorly get sick easier, people who smoke get cancer, people who don't do any form of regular excercise get sick and injured easier.
people who eat shitty food, smoke and don't excercise get sick all the time, injured when they fall down and eventually fill up already overflowing hostpitals when they suffer from heart attack, stroke, cancer, and diabeties.
WHY should i and anyone else who remains healthy and out of hostpital simply because we choose to walk instead of drive occasionally, eat a balanced diet and not smoke, have to pay for others to be treated for problems they have brought upon themselves by laziness and stupidity.
i do not mean to say that anyone who suffers from the above mentioned illnesses is stupid and/or lazy, far from it.
there are however hundreds of millions of people in the western world who are over weight and sick as a direct result of poor lifestyle and dietary choices. CHOICES. what you eat is your decision, how you live is your decision.
THINK just for 1 second of every day ''what impact am i having on the world around me''
when you buy something take the time to wonder where it came from and what was required in its production.
when you fill your car with petrol/gasoline thnk about where it came from and how that effects the environment
when you decide what to eat for breakfast lunch and dinner, choose something healthy like fruit or salad or grilled fish every few days or even once a week if you never do. the food production industry ie. fast and processed food consume more natural resources than any other in our daily lives and produce more waste.
when you are at a red light, sitting in your car. take a few moments to look around you and see how many cars have only one person in them and wonder how many of those people are ging to the same place. are you one of those people? could you have caught the bus?
public transport is not for losers, as a friend of mine once told me. riding the bus does not mean you can't afford a car, it means you choose not to have a car or to not drive it this time.
THINK a little more.
look out your window at that beautiful view and wonder how long life will stay like this unless we all change our ways, just a little.
2007/12/07 18:06 well guys,
here i am in the rockies and i love it. its cold as fuck but i don't care because i am having an awsome time.
the shop i am guesting in is great, i am working with an old friend i havn't seen in a couple of years. the owner, delaine, is a cool chick and really easy to work with. i have a show on monday at a local club, Pete's, and i have hooked up with a recently signed rapper,dash-b, who i am going to try to get down to the island for a hip-hop night i sponsor. not only that but he knows another rapper who is from kandahar and just released an album called "kalishnakov cancer" i sure do love political rap!
so even though the piercing scene is a little slow to start i am luvvin it up here in this quaint little mountain town.
p.s. mcdonalds opened a restaurant up here and nobody ate there so it had to close down and not come back. fuck yeh.
2007/12/06 16:37 well here i am in jasper. its damn cold but fuck is it beautiful up here.
i had a busy first day, piercing and putting up posters for my show.
all going well i will be back here every month for a week or two.
