Hello. Welcome to my humble IAM page. Feel free to vote in my polls and leave a message on the forum!
My name is Jessica, but I often go by the moniker Jay. I am 19 and the blood of many a Chinese person flows through my veins. I am Catholic, and have been since 2004. I am a Canadian Vancouverite and proud of where I live. I am an artist at heart, studying sciences at the University of Guelph in Ontario. My passion is horseback riding, and I've been riding since I was 7 years old. I am an aspiring equine veterinarian. I am no vegetarian. Beef jerky is my kryptonite. I love Pockey, dim sum, bubble tea and Dance Dance Revolution. I self-pierce when under stress, usually from school. I sing alto. I listen to an eclecic mix of rock, musical numbers, classical, techno/trance, Gregorian chant and opera. I bake and cook. I am a dreamer with her feet on the ground. IAM: Me.

Things That Have Not Yet Come To Pass...
2009/04/30 21:26 It's been a while since my last post, no?
That's because I caved and got another blog to write about everyday stuff (entheatus.wordpress.com), and this has become exclusively my piercing blog. And things haven't changed too much in that aspect of my life.
A few days ago I went to Canadian Tire for some plumbers' tape to finally stretch my left ear, since for some reason it is resisting my 0ga taper with every cell of its being. So I thought I'd do it the tape way. It's been a while since I tried taping my ear, seeing as last time my ears didn't take it too well, even with teflon tape. The idiot working at Canadian Tire that I asked for plumbers' tape had no idea what it was, because he just pointed to an aisle and said, "That's where all the tape is." I just shook my head and looked around, but alas, I could only find electrical tape, which I settled on.
So far so good. My ear isn't swelling or anything, but it's definitely going to be a slow process, as my ear isn't relaxing into the tape as well as it relaxes into my titanium tunnels. I might just stretch the hole big enough so that I can finish stretching with a taper.
Stretchy lobes and ibuprofen.

Huzzah! I've stretched both lobe piercings in my right ear, so now they are zero and two gauge. Both went in pretty nicely, a bit of pain, but I've never been known for my high pain tolerance. Now they're doing the whole we're-fine-really-but-we'll-sting-like-mad-for-a-bit-just-to-fuck-with-you-and-think-we-might-be-infected thing. I didn't realise how large the stretch from two to zero was compared to from four to two.
Both of them are stinging and aching a little, and I took a couple ibuprofen earlier because it felt like my ear was aflame. The stinging is slowly ebbing away and I think my ear will be just fine. No blow-outs, tearing or what have you, and they should heal beautifully. Geez, I'm so glad that I'm finally not sick...I've been waiting to stretch for the better part of a year.
I should probably start of with the fact that I have posted the photos from my suspension in August. All were by the very lovely and talented photographer Shannon.
I had a great circle of friends who were there to support me, and Russ Foxx did an incredible job. It wasn't nearly as horrible as I thought it would be (and consequently psyched myself up for), and I ended up enjoying the experience immensely. I ended up swinging about like a monkey for most of it, and managed to pick up a friend of mine from the ground.
The worse part about it was the massage at the end. It was incredibly uncomfortable and was hard enough that my back was severely bruised. And because of lifting my friend off the ground (and the hook-pull after the suspension), it did little to relieve the air.
Overall, and awesome experience, one that I hope I will enjoy again!
2008/08/15 00:24 I KNOW. It's been FOREVER since I last posted.
Anyway, I'm planning on a suspension for August 19th with RussFoxx of the Modern Body Suspension team of Vancouver. I've been in Vancouver for the past 4 months during the off-semester, working pretty much every day at Hastings Racecourse to try and save some money for tuition. I'm also working out stuff for the house I bought in Guelph and what not. The suspension I'm planning is a 4-point suicide suspension, my first one. I'm pretty nervous but pretty damn excited. I wonder what the experience will hold for me.
In other news, I HATE SOME DOCTORS. A friend of mine had a lip piercing for about 7 months, which she's always having problems with. She takes about the same care of it as anyone else, but she's very susceptible to infection and slow healing, and most of her doctors have been pretty good about the whole thing.
However, yesterday she got a complete asshole of a medical "professional" when she went in to get her lip checked out. From what I heard, they treated her like scum who deserved the infection and took out her ring, potentially trapping infection and all that. Then they prescribed some meds and shooed her out the door.
Isn't the Hippocratic Oath supposed to be about healing those who are ill, not passing judgment on them? It makes me sick to think that some doctors feel they have a right to judge a person based on a single piercing alone. And on top of that they might have just exacerbated the problem by taking the ring out, further refuting the oath they swore.
