I'm pretty open-minded with a lot of stuff. Whatever makes you feel good, if it's with informed consent of all parties, do it. And don't let what you do define how you label yourself, unless that's how you feel about yourself.
In spite of everything, I still believe that people are truly good at heart. Anne Frank said it, and it's how I live my life.

The kind of funk where you turn your head and you can smell it, except I can smell it WITHOUT turning my head. It apparently has to do partly with sebum production and partly with infection or some such. It's worse on the left (conch) than the right (helix).
This has been driving me batty every day for over 18 months and probably even more, I just don't remember back any further. I know other people can smell it, so it's embarrassing. Nobody has ever commented on it, but I know they can smell it.
Today I took out all my ear piercings to see if that help. What do you know...reduced stinkiness. It was still there, but much less. But I was paranoid all day about my helix and conch closing up, so when I got home I put different jewelry in. I am going to try cleaning my jewelry and ears super thoroughly on a regular basis and see if I can get away with keeping the holes and not having ear funk.
I wish I had internally threaded jewelry, though. Almost lost a labret ball again when taking the jewelry out last night.
Oh, and both holes survived; the helix was a piece of cake to put back and the conch was a little tough but went through fine. It's just a little sore if I touch it, now.
As you probably already know, BME has been mired in legal battles for the past year. We're being sued for no good reason and the tactic the guy suing us is using is to try to bankrupt BME.
And this:
I could really use your support through these trying times to help me cover BME's legal fees while we're being financially drained via this frivolous lawsuit.
Does this refer to Shannon? If it does, there is no way in hell I'm picking sides like that. I support Shannon AND I support BME. It doesn't have to be an either/or.
Added: OH. People have revealed to me in the comments that it wasn't Shannon at all, it was the bme.com dickwad. Okay, carry on then. I was VERY happy to see Shannon chiming in on ModBlog too.
2009/12/15 21:01 Back in July I talked about my plans for my sleeve, this is what I have come up with so far. I went with the hibiscus instead of the bermudiana flower for two reasons...first, I forgot about the bermudiana. Second, bermudiana was too similar to forget-me-not. I might change it later. I have it all saved as a psp file so I can edit at will.
2009/12/07 01:31 Coughed up $20 at the mall for four barbells. I like the kiosk, it's by Rockstar Body Jewelry, the kid who runs it is pretty knowledgeable. I've freaked him out a bit by being pretty knowledgeable myself; apparently most people who show up are dumbass kids, but I have had a few good conversations with him. He got two kickass microdermals on the front of his neck since the last time I saw him.
Anyway, here's a pic of one of the barbells. It looks like shit because I was in the car at a red light, and it was dark - the only light is from my car dome light, ha. It's really a nice light purple, kind of translucent-like. I got two of those, and two black and white beach-ball types. I've been wearing plain stainless steel since I upsized to 14ga, so I'm happy to have anything different. And yes, they are a tiny bit too long.
2009/10/23 01:46 Have I ever mentioned that I love ear pointing? I think it's totally awesome. There's such wide variety in the results though, I'd be scared to get it done. Some people are very subtle, some are practically Vulcans (!), some just come out really WRONG. I'd love to get it done and freak out every audiologist I ever meet in the future - especially the grad students at Gallaudet! - but I don't think my wife would go for it. I like it on other people though!
2009/10/19 16:57 I prefer to keep a labret stud in my conch piercing, because hoops that are big enough to be comfortable tend to interfere with my third earlobe piercing on that ear.
Last Wednesday I went to scratch my ear, or whatever I was doing, and I realized something was missing. I felt all around my right ear, and there were definitely only three labret stud backs there. Nothing in the conch! I had absolutely no idea where it went, and of course I panicked because I didn't know how long it had been missing! (Without checking my timeline, I'd guess that the piercing is a couple of years old, but I've never gone without something in it.)
I tried putting in my bioplast star-shaped gem labret stud but it wouldn't go through even when I looked in the mirror. So I grabbed a CBR (it amuses me that I just have them lying around) and put that in...thank goodness it was big enough to be comfortable! It went right in, so I don't know what happened with the stud. I did notice that it didn't seem to "grip" very well though - I knew I should never trust bioplast! So I'm looking for something internally threaded to order.
I think the previous one must have fallen out the back. It was always too short, it pressed against the inner conch instead of sitting nicely, and the gem was probably only 1.5mm on a 1.2mm (16g) stud, so I think it just fell out! If you look at the attached picture you can see a 1.5mm gem on a 1.2mm stud...see, easily able to fall through.
2009/08/12 10:46 I had a consultation with Paul Roe yesterday, it went quite well. His apprentice Leah was very nice. Most importantly, I walked in there and said "a star and some swirlies" and he came up with a great drawing. I had a few reference pix from BME but mostly it was "uhhh" and he produced something great. Looking forward to my appointment.
2009/08/10 20:03 As much as I am intrigued by finger amputations, I would never do it, because it would fuck up my signing. I am terribly curious what it would be like to sign with half-fingers but I would never risk my hands. They are too precious to me.
