Wednesday morning dispatch called and offered me a Denver Laydown. That means run out with two trailers, stay the night in the hotel, and run back the next day. I was glad to get it, Denver is one of the highest paying runs we have. I made as much as I usually make in a week in two days. I got to the KC yard and picked up my paperwork, went out to my tractor for the pretrip inspection. They gave me R6644, one of the oldest Kenworths we still have on the road. I prefer the Volvos if I can get one, but the KWs aren't too bad for the road. I had to get a headlight fixed, and chains put in the cab. Chains are required in Colorado from September 1st on. I hooked up my two trailers of poison and hit the gate right on time. I had never been west of Topeka in a commercial vehicle. I love distance driving. I got to Denver at about 11pm, and was surprised to see a guy I used to work with running road dispatch. The Denver yard was massive. Twice as big as the KC yard. I saw drivers hooking up triples (three 29 foot trailers) and Rocky Mountain doubles (a 48 foot trailer and a 29 foot trailer). We don't pull anything that big in KC. Got to the hotel and went to sleep.

Thursday, dispatch called me and told me I would be going back to KC at 1pm. I had my birthday lunch at Applebee's by myself. Classy, I know. I found a fucking crack pipe under my tractor, while doing the pretrip inspection. Went back to the Denver yard, hooked up two trailers and took off. The drive back was easy. Rolled into KC at 1:15am, and went back to work at 12:30pm. Dispatch said they would have sent me back to Denver, but I had to get my required 10 hour break in. Worked until 9:45pm and raced home to meet Maria.

Saturday we hung out with my brother and Mati Mat. Then we went to see Paranormal Activity. I thought it was awesome. Not really scary, but pretty damn creepy. I have to admit I looked at my bedroom door a few times when I heard noises last night. Spooky.

Today Maria left early to get back for roller derby practice. I started watching the Chiefs game and passed out during the third quarter. I woke up a few hours later. The Chiefs actually won. And I missed it. I watched The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror XX and Family Guy. Both were good. All this horror convinced me to watch The Exorcist. I hadn't seen it since I was a teenager. Honestly, it wasn't as scary as I remember it. The subliminal "Captain Howdy" images are super fucking creepy though. Now I'm watching Misery. Good day.

I got a Denver laydown. Hell yes. I'm at the Sleep Inn, in Thornton, Colorado. 13 hour work days can fuck off. Oh, I'm 26. SND N00DZ.
