2010/01/24 13:03 I've always known there are some people who just don't get along with me. I find that difficult, because I try to get along with everyone. The people who don't get along with me, can't always pin why it is they don't like me, but they know they sure as hell do not like me. It was suggested by a good friend of mine once, that the reason is these people are alpha-males. An alpha-male will thrust his chest out, curse, and tell tales about whatever impressive thing he accomplished. While others will listen, and be impressed, I usually don't see much depth to it, and carry on. Apparently, that triggers behaviour in alpha-males, similar to if I challenged them. I guess it's the same. The reality of it is I DON'T CARE. But then, while I sit back, (not caring of course), they get more and more upset.
I'm experiencing this now. I'm fighting it, by staying out of their way, because my professionalism is worth more to me, then having pissing contests. I just want to do my job, I don't want to show off to anyone, but my genuine passion gets mistaken quite frequently.
I don't quite know what exactly it is that makes people like that just HATE me, but I always manage to deal with it one way or the other.

So I got promoted to Corporal now! And I'm 21! Yet I don't feel any older, or any more senior really. I suppose that could be because despite my rank I'm still essentially doing the job of a Captain. I've got to say, having my birthday (not that there was anything formal, not even birthday beats actually), in Afghanistan really wasn't much of a downer. Considering my last two birthdays were just like every other day. I really wanna have a serious shindig for my 22nd birthday. Like, hobbit-standards, minus the ale and pipe-weed. I know all I would really have to do is put active effort in, but why would I invite people to my own birthday? Isn't someone else suppose to do that? TAIT AND WILL, THAT'S YOUR JOB NOW! if my 22nd birthday is a bust it's their fault.
Still no sign of the apparently (according to NatGeo), extinct Aghan River Tiger, or Caspian Tiger. Hope I snag a pic of one before I go home.
2010/01/18 10:48 So things are going well enough. All things considered, (reference the news), I'm doing well. By that, I mean we're doing well. It's definitely not hard to keep busy, but with that said the work doesn't always feel as though it's worth what it should be.
I really wish I didn't need to be so vague, because there is so much to say, but so little I'm able to say.
ON ANOTHER NOTE! Did anyone know there are TIGERS in KANDAHAR?! Well, I sure didn't know. We heard reports about it from all over the AO, I still haven't seen one myself, but apparently it's specifically an "Afghan River Tiger". It's been coming on to the camp nightly, sneak-snackin' around and just generally 'Uckin' wit ar shi'.
I really miss Larrissa, and it's dicks we got in to a relationship so quickly before I left, but the fact that we can remain as close as we are despite the distance means so much to me. I'm glad I've found what I have in her.
2009/12/15 12:42 So yesterday This Guy sewed my ears shut. I think it went really well, and I'm quite happy with the results. Excited for them to actually HEAL though. Pics as soon as my camera is found.
