There is no coming to consciousness without pain

Well, I just got here. And I`m all out of words for the moment anyway. If you want to know what, why and how, please read the story of my personal ascension.

I definitely seem to have developed a passion for body suspension. And because this community seems to be THE place to be to live that passion, I decided to join your little world here.

Events I`d want to attend next year:

Alice makes cool things
2009/10/08 00:00
Got a few things cool handmade things from Alice  for myself as well as deerheart and marple - now I can store my hooks (or less conspicious things) in an appropiate manner (click through to embiggen):

All her crafty things are really well made, and the packaging was hilarious  and super-efficient (Job adverts in my field? Hmmmm - should I move to the UK?). Also, best care instructions ever!

Anyway, I' d say a shameless plug for Alice's crafty talents is appropiate here. Should anyone be looking for something special - check out her work!

In other news - I'm going to be in the UK for a week starting Monday - anyone up for some weekend or evening fun in or around London?

And it's my birthday tomorrow today. Not looking forward too much to getting older yet another year - time flies far too fast for my taste.

Oslo suscon 2009
2009/07/26 08:28 still no proper Dallas suscon entry, sorry folks. I know, I suck at this thing, but....
Seeing that I'm greatly enjoying attending this years' Oslo suscon at the moment, I honestly don't feel like I should spend my time staring at a computer screen, groping for words for something I cannot seem to find any for. I know some of you are waiting...
Anyway, here I am, enjoying the view out to Oslo Fjord from my 24th floor room (first picture), feasting on the best hotel breakfast I have seen in a long time (hooray for room service!) and preparing myself for another day of meeting old and new friends, watching even more awesome suspensions, doing a bit of sightseeing (I'll plan on seeing the Viking ship museum and doing a leisurely stroll through Vigelandsparken) - and my own upcoming suspension later today.
This marks the 10th time I'll be suspending from hooks in my skin, and all I can say is that I'm more nervous than ever before. That includes the first time. Well, we're going to see how this will work out!

I did include a few pictures for your pleasure, and there's more to come. Sadly, the corporate treadmill has me again tomorrow, so no afterparty gangbangbrand for me, sadly. I'll donate my trasure cove of alcoholic beverages to the good cause, though :)

And while I'm at it:
I attend the Swiss IAM meeting last month, and finally managed to do a DIY suspension - something I wanted to do ever since I started out with this two-something years ago. After the "learning" experience in Dallas, I finally felt comfortable and confident nough to take this one on.
I have no words for this even now, but it was the most intense, most rewarding and most treasured experience ever. As far as personal enlightenment goes, this experience rates right up there together with my first one.A huge "thank you" goes out to this community, especially to those who have taught me things and guided me through it - you know who you are, there's too many names to list!

I'll properly document this as soon as I am able to find the right words for it. What has come up so far just couldn't do this justice, and that's why I have deleted several pathetic attempts so far. It all sounds so *cheesy*. but, believe me, I've been trying!

side note: Those Gilson hooks are really well suited for DIY insertion - the shackles are easy to grab and hold, allowing for good grip; and the needle/pin setup gives great leverage. I got me another pair (from Steve Haworth) right here in Oslo. These are in 8g/3.2mm and I'm really stoked about trying them out tonight!

Here's some pics - I thought there'll be so many others showing people suspending, I guess I'll concentrate on other subjects. There'll be more! To all who'd want to see really nice pics of those NOW - check out Stephans' page! He knows how to photograph - and my $99 "suspension camera" really isn't up to the task of handling low-light conditions....

proper Dallas suscon entry coming soon
2009/05/01 12:56
I *should* find the time over this long weekend - May1 is 'labour day' in most of Europe. I've been so terribly busy with work and personal stuff ever since getting back home that I just didn't get anything done, sorry.
Awesome doesn't describe this event properly. I'll definitely be back next year!
Oh, and I`d REALLY be grateful if anyone who has taken pictures of my suspension could send them to me. I gave my camera to Aurora and got lots of pictures from the time I put my hooks in (yes! myself! DIY!) until the battery gave out right when I finally made it up.

In Dallas now;
2009/04/16 06:33 I got into town and checked into "my" house last night. The place is cool (there's even trees in the yard to suspend off  from ;), really easy to get to and only a 10-minute freeway drive from the event.
Those who are staying with me and would want to get a hold of me while here please note my phone no: 702-466-5892. That's an AT&T "pay as you go" thing I got for this purpose as it's a lot cheaper to use this than to pay $2.50 a minute international roaming charges on my regular one....

The "touristy" part of this trip is almost over now but was awesome so far.
Although my planning was somewhat thwarted by Mother Nature and I had to cut out some of the things I wanted to see, as it isn't really a good idea to go out hiking overnight in freezing weather and a couple inches of fresh snow in the mountains and I had to wait for the weather to improve, I still managed to see a lot. Especially the trip down to the river at Grand Canyon was impressive, and I definitely will be back there!

and now some quick pictures before I'm off to the airport to get Mikey and Rolf. More to follow. Soon. :) edit: I have no idea why these come out sideways. Will fix later...

Dallas Suscon - on top until then:
2009/02/22 01:40
Right now, I`m arranging my travel plans around attending Allen Falkner's birthday suscon that's scheduled to take place in Dallas April 17-19. Really looking forward to it!

Vacation request was approved a while ago, and I just booked my flights. I`ll be flying into Vegas on the 8th, and back from Dallas on the 22nd.
For the week's time leading up to the event, I plan on doing a nice road trip around the sights the American Southwest has to offer, starting from Las Vegas and visiting Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns and the like (planned itinerary so far). I`d be open for any suggestions as to what I shouldn't miss seeing! Tell me! (Also, I would not mind company...)
I`ll be in Dallas forg a week from the 15th until the 22nd and have gotten me a house there. Yes, a real vacation-property house - with a bedroom or two to spare to stay for fellow suscon attendees, about a 10-to-15-minute drive to the suscon venue. Thought this would be an economically as well as socially viable alternative to staying in cramped hotel rooms. Tell me when you'd want to share!
