Everyday Junglist - http://www.onetribe.nu

Sometimes I don't quite understand where I came from or how I got here, or what the hell I'm supposed to be doing but it doesn't really matter because as long as I can still smile and think, the world is a good place to be.

Sushi. Chocolate malts. Beer I can't see through. Being in the woods. Good music. These are a few of my favorite things.

I'm an insomniac.. been that way since I was little. I'm a sponge, I read constantly and absorb everything I come across, except numbers, but I find them intriguing and beautiful. I love to write, but I haven't done it at length in a long time, nor have I engaged in any visual art in a while, which I regret. Instead, I spend an average of 70hrs a week making jewelry. I spend the rest trying to save the world by teaching it to grow and consume local, natural food. I am passionate about these things and will talk endlessly of them, given the chance. Sometimes I do it anyway, regardless of chance.

There is beauty in everything.

Personal Work
2009/11/12 17:17

If anyone is interested in some kind of custom project at a possibly discounted rate, get in touch. I am trying to pull together some personal dollars to fly out to Portland to visit Blake and see the Nomad exhibit at the Portland Museum before it closes at the end of the year. Although obviously related to Onetribe, this trip is a personal endeavor to do research on some specific facets of Pre-Columbian jewelry design/construction to further my knowledge and skill at traditional reproductions for art's sake. Anything I do will be at my discretion and will be done after hours during my own personal time so as not to conflict with normal work.

Natural Anthem

Went camping this past weekend with the fiancee's family. Lots of sitting in front of the campfire reading Taoist texts and staring off into the woods. Needed it. Hope to do it again soon.

So I was working on some jewelry earlier and had a piece break and needed to get out of the workshop for a little while. I came and sat down at my desk and was like fuck this shit, I'm going to write a rhyme. Basically it's just another way to verbalize "hello, i'm a loser," but hey, it was fun.

Making ill artisan jewels for you fools
Paying mad respect to the old format
I can't ignore that
Primitive culture's sculptures
Adorn your body 'cause you're not afraid to see untold history unrolled
To embrace a slower pace
Take back our space
From entities killing this land
With gloved hands in labs, In masks
F*%$ born to conform, reform
Arise, and open people's eyes to the coming demise
They chastize and despise because they fear past's battle cries
Through us it'll rise.

Making Stuff.

Been busy with custom orders and admin stuff day after day, nothing really new or interesting to report. Started a new painting recently, which is excellent, haven't done it in years, so it's a little odd but getting back into the groove. Trying to work on a large scale than previously.

Here's a set of green Chiapas amber flowers I finished carving yesterday. I quite heart them and I think I may need a set for my flats.

Busy.

Yesterday evening I bled out of my mouth/throat for a while, which was not awesome. Then I didn't sleep, even though I tried really hard.

Today I worked alone (except for Marshall in the wood workshop for a few hours) because the rest of my staff are either on vacation or no longer here daily. I filled orders, answered the phone, dealt with walk in customers, answered emails, and made jewelry. Reminds me of the old days seven or so years ago.

Except that I didn't bleed internally for no reason back then.
