I first started putting needles in me at the age of sixten or seventeen. I didn't really want an "earring" or anything, just wanted to see if I could do it. I wanted to see what it felt like. To see if I could actually push something sharp through my ear. I was amazed that I was able to do it. I never thought of it as what it could be like to modify myself. I was just experimenting with 'pain' and what I could handle. I leaned a bit more (and found bme.freeq.org soon after) and got my hands on real piercing needles and starting doing it more to my ears. I started wearing earrings and thought it was so simple and fun how it felt for a needle to cut through. Delightful! (Now it's not too weird)
When I turned 18, I got my nipples done by a stoned biker in New York State. Looking back, maybe I should have had (pardon the pun) higher expectations of trust. But in ten years, they have brought me so much pleasure.
