HELP!
2007/01/21 01:49 ARRRRGH! I got my nostril pierced on Sunday, and of course, I come down with the cold from doom three days later. Now, after days of blowing my nose, the screw keeps popping out or twisting the wrong way around. It's almost 2 AM, so there's nobody to fix it - what the hell do I do!?

I am SUCH a good bad-influence
2006/12/14 20:10

Nobody ever suspects the sweet and girly ones! Bwa ha ha. Another co-worker bites the bullet! One of my friends came with me to Koi last weekend and got a little helix ring. It's very cute on her, and the first thing she said after we walked out of the studio was, "Yeah, I can see how that's addictive!" Also on that evening, I bought my little sister 12G plugs for her birthday! She's been wanting to stretch her lobes for little spirals, but I knew she would never go on her own, so I offered to buy her them for her birthday. Unfortunately, the smallest ones they had in a non-porous material were 10G. Since she'd never stretched before, that would've been crazy, so I told her I'd buy the spirals for Christmukkah (although it will be belated, since she probably won't be ready to stretch by then), and I'd get her plugs for her birthday. The poor thing nearly passed out after the first taper, but she was a trooper. She's only got the one hole in each lobe, but she's tickled that her holes are bigger than mine now. I've been wanting to stretch up as well, but I decided not to steal her thunder that night!

Of course, I couldn't just go to Koi and only be a bad influence! I got my other little ear head/forward helix sparkle put in, so now those two mirror each other. I'm not too big on perfect symmetry, but I do like a little balance. The new one is also much more noticable, since I don't have a ring in that ear like the other one. That piercing is so much fun to get. It's just the right amount of stick and adrenaline, but very little pain at all. It also doesn't seem to swell on my ears, so there's none of that awful, throbby feeling either.

Something of a mod
2006/11/18 17:34

So, while this particular "mod" isn't really what I normally consider body modification, it IS a big fix to my self-image.

For some idiotic reason I decided a few years ago to grow my hair out - no more pink streaks, no more purple or black. A couple weeks ago I realized how fed up with my life I'd become - hating my job, looking in the mirror and not really feeling like I looked like the girl I am. I woke up one Thursday morning and realized that the hair needed to go. Now.

Most girls with long hair tend to agonize over this kind of decision. I called a salon from my desk that morning and went in that night. Now my long, blonde hair is a memory and I have a nice, choppy, chin-length cut. Yay! Now I look like myself again - a girl who likes to have fun, not some prissy, high maintenance bitch!

Incidentally, that same week I decided to apply for re-admission to school to get that second undergrad I've been wanting. Grad school or bust! I may have gotten stuck working about 55-60 hours this week (no overtime pay, of course), but at least I can console myself with the fact that I'm registered for Spring semester and getting the hell out that place!

A new ear head!
2006/11/01 23:25

God I need a camera. I really want to take a picture of my new little sparkle, but I didn't end up running any of my fun errands last weekend!

My job is sucking the life out of me! It used to be fun and exciting but apparently if you show corporate-type people that you are responsible and reliable it means that you're suddenly the go-to for all the shitty late nights and unpaid overtime. Last Friday I woke up and decided it was time to act my age. For most people that means acting older, for me that meant going to get pierced on my lunch break.

I wouldn't say I'm an impulsive person, but I'm very decisive, which some people find hard to distinguish. This was probably as close to an impulse piercing as I've ever gotten. I already have an ear-head (cbr) on my left ear, although it might be more of a helix, as it is pierced more top to bottom than front to back. At any rate, I decided that it would be darling to get a tiny ear-head stud to peek out from behind the ring. I'm really, really happy with how it turned out.

Strangely, it barely, barely registered as pain. Maybe it was because I was using piercing as a stress relief tool, or maybe my body has just decided that punching holes in it is okay. At any rate, I was expecting it to be a LOT more difficult to heal. My other ear-head piercing was done on a vacation to Canada and although the shop was the locally reccomended one and very professional, they used a spray to "freeze" my ear before they pierced it. It made for a somewhat less painful initial stick, but about 20-30 minutes later - WHAM. Hot, throbbing agony. This time around I went to Marty at Koi and it went like a dream. Apparently he stuck me in the back of the ear a bit, but I would never have known if he hadn't mentioned it. Frankly, I'm amazed that he was able to pierce such a tight, precise little alignment with the ring, and in such an enclosed space.

I'm planning on getting a matching sparkle on the other side, maybe two, eventually. After the last ear head experience, I was expecting to have to lay on the other side for weeks, if not months, but I really think that the freezing spray was what made the other one such a bitch. When all the blood rushed back in, it probably swelled quite a bit. This one never swelled at all, which is amazing when you consider it's the same ear, in practically the same place.
