Ike hits my apt complex 2008/09/16 14:44 Considering how badly some of the coastal areas were hit, these pictures really aren't anything to boast about. I can tell you that it was still a pretty terrifying experience, and my area is likely to be without power for at least a week. I left back to Dallas yesterday and luckily was able to find gas in Huntsville (after about a 1 to 2 hour wait in line... where I almost ran out of gas!).




Cabin Fever 2008/07/26 22:38 So my vacation is over. It was a full week but after-the-fact it feels like it was only 2 or 3 days. I wish I would hit the lotto so I could be on vacation 365 days a year. That would be superb. Though I guess that would require me actually playing the lottery, which I never have.
But anywhoo, back to the vacation... it was everything I could have asked for (and needed). The actual resort itself was isolated pretty nicely from everything, but the cabins were a little more bunched together than I was anticipating. On our first day there we were greeted by a bunch of drunk rednecks in the cabin next door who were in "awe" of my friend and I's tattoos. They made some pretty ignorant comments, but I suspect that was from them being uneducated about the whole subject (and possibly modern times in general). Regardless they were in good spirits and it was an entertaining start to our stay there.
The actual cabin itself was fully furnished (fridge, stove, microwave, pots, pans, etc, etc) and we even had some limited cable tv. Aside from the kitchen there was a living area (with a couch and love seat), 1 bathroom (with a whirpool tub w00t!), 1 bedroom, then an upstairs loft with 2 beds. The walls were paper thin, and every step taken made a creaking sound because of the old wooden floors. Going up and down the stairs was unbelievably obnoxious!
Throughout the week we spent most of our time eating, sleeping, swimming, and "keeping in good spirits." We also spent the nights watching a myriad of cabin/woods related horror movies we brought a long. Sounds boring, but that kinda was the point. We all needed to getaway and give our minds and bodies some much deserved rest and relaxation.



7-16-08 2008/07/16 15:56 I spent about 4.5 hours at the DMV today. My license expires in 2 days, and I have Wednesday mornings off, so I made it a point to wake up early and try to avoid the madness. Which I did! I got there at 8am, and there was only maybe 10 or 15 people in front of me. Unfortunately as I got closer to the initial desk area to get my #, I discovered that I would need my Social Security card. So, I had to leave, drive home, and go on a search for it. I am already completely packed for the move to Houston, so I had to go through about 5 or 6 boxes in the garage, in the heat, before I finally found it. Drove back to the DMV, and by this point in time it was around 10am, and there was a bajillion people there. I had almost 40 people ahead of me, it sucked! Alas I got it renewed, and finally had a new picture taken. My current picture is so old, it doesn't even look like me and I get hassled all the time because of my youthful looks.

While I was sitting there waiting I decided on at least one thing I wanted to do for my birthday. Dinner at PF Changs. MMMMMMMM, I love me some PF Changs. I believe I have gone to the PF for my past 3 or 4 birthdays, and this year will be no exception. They have this 'tofu ma po' (??? something like that) that is the best tofu dish ever. They also have awesome spring rolls. There is a PF literally on the service road by the apartments I'm moving to in Houston, I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing yet....

28 Years 2008/07/15 21:43 In 3 days I will be turning 28. w00t! Not that there is really anything exciting about being 28. I don't have any plans except having to work during the day.

The fun for me starts on the 19th when I get to spend almost a week in a cabin at some resort in Flint, TX with a couple of friends. It was a free deal so it will be nice to enjoy some time off from work and contemplate everything going on in my life, good and bad. Originally it was going to be a couples thing (my best friend, his gf, my gf, and I), but as of today I'm single (this would be categorized into the 'bad' I just mentioned, or maybe it's good?) so it looks like I will be awkwardly alone for the trip. Regardless I plan to have a much deserved dosage of rest and relaxation, along with lots of alcohol and 0 worries.

Then on the 25th I have my next tattoo appointment for my chest.
