Okay, I am just a dude and I do the things that dudes do. I really like heavy tattooing, ear stretching, lip stretching and other piercing. I work for the neurosurgical department of my local medical center from home. I've been doing it for about two and a half years now. I was a piercer from 1997 to 2005 and I also tattooed from 2000 to 2005. My moms got sick with cancer and so I moved back to Tulsa to be with her. In short, her new husband pretty much got everything. So, stuck in Oklahoma and homeless, I quit piercing and tattooing in 2005, as tattooing was still illegal in Oklahoma and I went to work doing the medical transcription, (it was an easy fallback plan and a decent paying, easy job). In January of this year, I decided that I wanted to start piercing again, at least part time. I really miss the work and the customers. When I tried to get a license in Oklahoma, I was told they needed a copy of a license that I had held for at least two years from another state or I had to apprentice again. Well, the license that I had in Missouri was a two year license with a permenant residence, I'm totally stoked. I call the Health department and they tell me that Joplin destroys their records every so often, therefore, they had a record for the shop I worked at, but none of the employee licenses inhcluding the owner! So, I sit and type neurosurgical reports all day and I have to reapprentice. I'm not so sure that's a bad thing, I haven't pierced in two years and as well as I thought I did my job, my first apprenticeship wasn't really that good in hindsight. I apprenticed in 1997 as well and I feel like I kept current with things, but I also know I can always be better. This time around, I want to apprentice under someone who takes piercing as seriously as I do.
