the last little while i've just been gardening, quilting, knitting, and alot of vegan baking from my new cookbook. I signed up for some sweet fun workshops this summer. Biodiesel, strawbale building, cob building, managing and keeping goats and some others. I also have a fibre dying seminar this saturday and some sewing classes this summer too. Hopefully i'll make all of them!
i finished up some mittens, a sweater with owls on it and i spun some new wool. I've already got transplants in the ground (onions, lettuce, spinach, kale). And my first batch of radishes are already 3 weeks old.. just a little bit away from eating.
I can't wait to tile my kitchen and back room and have some new windows in my place.. i think it'll look alot better.
i ventured up to lee valley with a friend and totally got a sweet watering can that i've been eyeing for a couple of years. I also got some new trellis netting, and some other little stuff for the garden. It was a fun trip. I planted a buttload of seeds again this weekend, and some outisde. I built a trellis for my peas and cucumbers. Cleaned up the yard a bit more too. Last night i stayed up late cooking soup and baking... after a good night of WoW. I also ran twice this weekend and did yoga. I am tired, and i sort of feel like i'm getting sick. I'll go to yoga tonight, although we'll see how well that goes, my muscles are a bit jello-y.
i'm looking forward to the spring and summer. I have many plans.
more beers than i planned. But fun. Late nights this week are making me tired. Seeds are sprouting, inside and out. Garden is coming together, starting to be a garden again. I have to move the remainder of my raspberries to another location away from my property line. They are too invasive to have beside a neighbour, last summer i kept seeing raspberries popping up 6 feet into his lawn. OOPS!
I am going to knit a sweater with owls on it for my sister as well as the mitts i'm working on.. gotta get going on birthdays and christmas!
10km tonight! now off to a beer then i would like to chill and knit. running makes beer ok.
i had a good night last night. run 9 km. beer with friends. dinner at pow wow. more beer with friends. cuddles with kitties. saw some seeds sprouting. sleep.
well. quite the interesting weekend i must say. Aside from a few sad realizations, it was actually pretty amazing. I just have to look forward. I don't need people leveraging my own personal life against me.. and i definitely don't need to feel this way. From now on... i just don't care.
i ran alot.. friday 12 km, saturday 6 km and yoga, sunday 9 km, monday yoga, and tonight i will run 9 again. I started a whole bunch of seedlings, dug in all the rest of the ground cover and laid some more compost out. I can't wait until this weekend when i'll be putting radishes and peas in under row cover. Homemade organic pizza and beers, then milkshakes. I'm getting a pretty big tax return which i will spend on the house. I think i'll put in new windows in the kitchen and two other rooms. That or new roof... but i'm thinking windows since one of them smooshed my hand this past weekend. I'd love to get a nice big window for the kitchen with casement sides instead of the cheap sliding ones i have now. Also I have to get the tiling done in my kitchen and back room. Plenty of time for that. I just want to get the house up to par so i can sell it fairly soon.
last night was a NAFA benefit at L3. I enjoy supporting NAFA so i went. I did not enjoy the music, so i had a couple of beers and then went home. Work, yoga and running wore me out this week. So much working late and going in early, i'm very tired.
I will get the rest of my garden cleaned up and turned in this weekend and hopefully get all the pots ready with rocks at the bottom and stuff. I plan to start my parents quilt and get a mitten finished.
I went to a really great ashtanga class last night. I've decided i'd like to do alot more ashtanga, and since my studio only offers one day a week of that specific class, i think i'll buy a punch pass at yoga by sara too so i can suppliment my yoga at sukha with one more ashtanga class a week. My goal is to get really good and strong in a couple of years so i can go to Mysore India for a month or two to a well respected yoga practice there.
Below are some pictures of the mittens i'm making for my sister. Also some GIANT garlic cloves from my garden last season that i've stored in my basement. It tastes good. :)
i'm really ready to retreat from all social life anyway... so, good timing i guess. good thing it's gardening season.
i feel like maybe some people are leaving things out when they talk to me. I understand.. but at the same time... i guess it says something.
pretty busy weekend. lots of running, gardening, cleaning and knitting. Saturday i ran 10 km, put together some new lights for my seed starting area, and then i went CURLING with my parents!!! Man that was fun. I really, really enjoyed it. Then there was a big banquet dinner after for all the beginners of the evening, which went kind of long, but at least there was free beer. Sunday i ran, cleaned, worked for aboug 6 hours, knitted and had dinner with my mom and dad at their house where i opened a jar of my own homemade bread and butter pickles and some of my preserved zucchini relish. Both were awesome! I'm always apprehensive of opening a jar of pickles i made. I'm about halfway done one of the squirrel mitties i'm knitting, they're fun. I need to start on that quilt that i'm making for my parents for christmas soon... yikes! Too much to do.
well the race went very well. 29 min for a 5k for me is pretty good, alot faster than i normally run. Lisa Hannigan was awesome, and walking through the market was fun too.
this week's been kinda rough. I have so many things to take care of right now. Plus on top of everything there's the running and yoga, which i pretty much need to keep me feeling positive. I attended a wool dying workshop this past weekend which was fun! I could've easily figured it out myself, but it's always fun to go do stuff in a workshop, so why not?! Of course i used a bunch of greens, i have a green problem. Knitting and fibre stuff has made me realize that olivey earthy greens are my favourite colours apparantly, who knew?! I also finished some baby mitts for my cousin, and a black lacey knitted thong for a friend who's getting married for her shower. I shouldn't have knitted them in black because you can't see the pattern very well. They ended up cuter than i had thought they would.
My new computer continues to function very well. I am very happy with it.
